Kirkland’s lakefront beaches—are some of the most beloved places in our community.
They are where we gather with neighbors, teach our kids to swim, launch paddle boards at sunrise, and linger over sunsets.
They are free, open, and welcoming to all. Our beached truly are some of the most accessible and joy-filled spaces in our city.
But each year, the sand erodes into Lake Washington. It washes away under thousands of bare feet, waves, and weather. Without regular replenishment, our beaches become compacted, uneven, and less safe for families, seniors, and children at play.
That’s why each summer, the Kirkland Community Foundation launches a community-powered campaign to refresh the sand and care for these shared spaces.
When you donate to this effort, you’re not just funding sand—you’re helping Kirkland remain a place where people of all backgrounds can come together, enjoy nature, and build lasting memories.
Whether you’re a parent building sandcastles with a toddler or a longtime resident who wants to preserve the places that make Kirkland feel like home—this campaign is for you.
This community-led effort is one way we care for the places that matter mos. We want to make sure they remain safe, joyful, and welcoming for all. To find out about more about the Kirkland Community Foundation’s Community Projects – visit here.
